Knowing how much our friends and family enjoyed scented candles, we decided to give candles as Christmas gifts in 1999. Not wanting to give just another candle, we chose to make them ourselves. It took some trial-and-error but we were pleased with the final result. Our friends and family were so pleased that they encouraged us to start selling our hand-poured scented candles. We agreed and 'Islander Scents' came to be.

Since the beginning, all candles have been hand-poured in our garage in Poquoson, Virginia. Prior to September 2004, we mostly sold our candles from home, the internet and festivals (visit our events page to learn more about our favorite festivals).

In September 2004, we opened our retail shop, Islander Scents Trophies & Engraving. In November 2006, we moved to 796 Poquoson Avenue, Poquoson, Virginia. Our shop offers hand-poured scented candles, candle accessories, candle gift sets, trophies, plaques, medals, engraved crystal, engraved pewter and much more. We hope you will visit.
